A Few Peaceful Pictures before the Flurry of Activity Began...

So, before the wonderful, crazy, non-stop succession of  year-end events began we quietly celebrated Jackson's birthday.  Here he is participating in the traditional Montessori birthday ritual of "Walking Around the Sun".  After he traced our planet's elliptical orbit 6 times, he made a wish and blew out the candle.  Sometimes the child opts to carry a globe or a small model of the earth as they retrace their journey around our favorite class M star.
Wyatt created an amazing figure with the clay and toothpicks.  It resembled a ferris wheel  and had 21 faces.  At the beginning of the year I use this material to reinforce the structure of the Geometric Solids.  I've found it can also be useful in gainning a deeper understanding of the differences between 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional figures. So, quiet Wyatt "the enginneer" went from building "cubes", "square-based pyraminds", and  rectanglular prisims to this wonderful septagonal prism.  Way to go, Wyatt!

Reminder: For the Graduation Ceremony children are allowed to wear whatever they like (from fancy dress to jeans).  Since we will have a regular day including lunch/recess it is recommended that children arrive in uniform and change into optional attire just prior to ceremony.  We will begin the changing clothes and donning robes process around 1:15.  Parents may bring clothes at that time or simply send them with your child on Friday.

**Pledge for Play**

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  What I want for the new playground is new slides, a trampoline, swinging ropes, a sand box, teeter totters, and tire swings.  Hope you put this stuff on the playground. Why I would like this because. It would be fun.  It would be perfect for other kids to play in. In other words we want new playgrounds. Bromley First Grade Student

Howdy Fabulous Families!

First I have to say we had a blast today on our trip to see Wind in the Willows.  They were THE BEST Behaved group there.  We’ll do a graph on Monday to determine which part of the day was the “favorite” – “the bus ride”, “the play”, or “the park”.  So far there is a tie between the bus and park – but I’ve only consulted with two kiddos!

A HUGE thank you to chaperones Ellen, Amy, Daria, Shawn and Lisa for making sure those kids stayed happy and safe!

Please arrive for your testing time 5 mins. early so we can stay on schedule.

If you haven’t signed up yet for a testing time tomorrow or Friday, please do so at

Warmest Regards,

More Important Dates and Good Stuff Coming!

Dear Parents,

Better get your calendar out to note these important dates!  It seems the closer we get to Graduation, the more busy we get!  Events that require children to wear a particular color or dress will be noted.

Check your e-mail for Courtney's invite to contribute to our Graduation refreshments and to set up a time for DRA testing (Thursday April 26th or Friday April 27th).  This test should only take about 15 mins.

This Week's Large Group Lessons Include: Review of Continents, Vertebrate Classifications (Mammal, Bird, Reptile, Amphibian, and Fish) and characteristics, standard measurements (lines and perimeter), measuring of various "largest" animals (e.g. Anaconda=30 feet, Blue Whale=Tuesday work...etc.), Life Cycle of Butterfly, Life Cycle of Frog, Life Cycle of Bean, Needs of Plants, Planting of Herbs (classroom), Planting of Flowers (outside), Graphing of Lunch Count (3 variables), Graphing of Objects (by color), Magnets (changing objects), Color Blending of Primary Colors, and Making a Rainbow with Crystals.

Wed. April 18th - Fire Safety Presentation with Firefighters!
Thursday April 19th - Spirit Week Kick-off Assembly for Elementary 2:45pm
Friday April 20th - Free Dress Day but K must primarily YELLOW!
Also (tentative) planting of flowers outside
Monday April 23rd - Wear uniform but can also wear mustache all day!
Tuesday April 24th - Heritage Day Dress
Wednesday April 25th - Field Trip to see Wind in the Willows at Northglenn Recreation Center.
(I've never done a field trip in which children we're required to wear a Bromley shirt but I'll double check as it's also Career Day for Spirit week).  If you haven't paid already please do so ;o)

Phew...that's all for now!
Thanks for all the terrific support,
Mel Wojcik
